Service Description

Day 1: Leh - Rumtse – Kyamar - Drive from Leh to Rumtse. Time taken: 2-3 hours drive of 79 km. - Apon loading the horses with your camping material start walking. - It will be an easy day with 4 to 5 hours trekking of 9.5 km. - Altitude: 13,772 ft (4240 m) to 15,006 ft (4538 m) - Camp today at Kyamar near the stream. Day 2: Kyamar – Kyamar La – Mandachalan La – Tisaling - After a good night’s sleep we have a long day ahead today. It will be a 15 km long trail which takes about 8-9 hours. - Altitude at Kyamar is 4538 m. - Cross the first high pass today at 5070 m called Kyamar la and later Mandachalan La at 17,162 ft. (5206 m) - Descend to Tisaling for the night in Camp. Tisaling is 4950 m high. Day 3: Tisaling – Shibuk La – Pongunagu (Tso Kar campsite) - Today morning start with a gradual climb to Shibuk La at 5270 m. - From the pass one can catch a glimpse of the salt water lake – Tso Kar and Mt. Thugse (6,050 m) and Mt. Gursan (6,370 m) on the horizon - Descend down in Tsokar valley and walk on to Pongunagu camping site on the shores of Tsokar. The lake stands at 15,049 ft (4640 m) elevation. - Total walk today is 15 km and takes approximately 6-7 hours. Day 4: Pongunagu to Nuruchen - Today the altitude gain is from 15,049 ft (4640 m) to 15,308 ft (4680 m) - 16 km trek takes about 6-7 hours. - It is one of the easy days on the trek with no high passes to cross and one can enjoy the meadows of Changthang plateau. Day 5: Nuruchen – Horlam La – Rachungkharu - It is a short but challenging day today. You start at altitude 15,308 ft climb up to 16,300 ft at Horlam La and then descend to 16,148 ft for the night camp. - The trail today will take 4-5 hours and distance covered will be 9 to 10 km. Day 6: Trek Rochungkharu to Gyamalhoma over Gyamar La. (highest on this day 5335 meters) Day 7: Gyamalhoma to Korzok village. Day 8: Drive back from Korzok - Tsomoriri. This is a challenging trek with almost each day above 4000 meters. One needs to be acclimatized to do the trek and be prepared for the unexpected cold.
